In this presentation, individuals will learn about different skills and tools that can be used to help manage tics, calm sensory dysregulation, and help an individual refocus themselves in moments (or after moments) of distress. There are many great resources available to help with grounding, regulation, and tic management. In this presentation, individuals will learn how different tools can be effective for different feelings and sensations. Individuals can learn what they want to add to their own toolbox, as well as share the tools that have worked for them that may help others. Individuals will be able to explore coping skills such as mountain valley breathing, and tools such as tangles that have a specific effect on the brain. The goal is to have as many tools available as possible to use in times of distress or increased tics. This presentation will incorporate skills from DBT, CBT, and play therapy.
